Discover Your Voice In Orlando

November 4, 2017 - November 11, 2017

Stay at an official Walt Disney World® Hotel, where your child will have an unforgettable educational experience learning how to improve their singing and performing skills with the song of their choice! Not only will these aspiring young singers develop their voices using THROGA techniques, their entire adventure will be captured on film by Push Love Productions and edited down to a short video package for you and your family to preserve the experience privately or share with the world online. This full-week THROGA Retreat in Orlando includes vocal training, performance rehearsals, filming in several locations, and two full days of Disney World Theme Park passes for you and your child to explore the magic!

Throughout the retreat, participants will have the opportunity to work directly with our Retreat Mentors (below) to learn how to express and develop the qualities that make them unique and stand out. This experience is open to young singers (ages 8-17) of all skill levels. Though everyone will participate in the same activities, classes are occasionally split into age groups designed to maintain an appropriate degree of challenge and expectation for optimum learning. One Parent/Guardian is included in the retreat cost and two more family members (Guests) are welcome for an additional fee, which helps to cover extra Disney passes, transportation to remote locations, and lunches on all four retreat activity days.

*This retreat only affects 4 days of school (Nov 6th-9th), due to Veteran’s Day weekend.

Disney Springs

From the time you arrive to the day you return home, Disney Springs will only be steps away from your hotel! This sprawling promenade features charming Florida inspired waterfront towns, historic architecture and natural beauty with 181 establishments in retail, dining and entertainment. You will have plenty to do and things to see in between retreat activities and at the end of each day without having to drive anywhere. A few highlights include the DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, Rainforest Cafe, Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop, Disney Springs Marketplace, Harley-Davidson, House of Blues, AMC Movies 24, STARBUCKS, Star Wars Galactic Outpost, The Spice & Tea Exchange, The LEGO Store, T-REX Cafe, The Boathouse, Planet Hollywood and Cirque du Soleil La Nouba.

Wyndham Meeting Rooms

The first two “activity days” (November 5th and 6th) will take place in adjoining meeting rooms at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista’s Conference Center with lunch included. Here, we will start each morning with fun vocal warmups, while learning to apply THROGA techniques. In addition to singing, your child will learn the art of speaking clearly and thoughtfully in front of others and on camera, which offers valuable life skills in being able to communicate and self-express with purpose.

Classes throughout these two days will cover the art of auditioning (how to choose and perform the best songs for your voice), breathing basics (improving breath management for singing), vocal health (learning how to prepare and maintain a healthy voice), vocal range (safely increasing vocal range to expand one’s song portfolio) and much more. Although we encourage all of the Singers to choose a solo from Disney’s vast catalog of songs to maintain our retreat’s theme, we do allow them to submit any song they like for pre-approval. This way we can make sure they are age appropriate and will work well in an acoustic setting (piano or acoustic guitar). To help your child make the best song selection for their vocal strengths and personality, we offer a free online review service for each of the participants in advance.

On the final day of activities (November 9th), we will return to the Wyndham Meeting rooms for rehearsals and have an opportunity to perform live on stage for industry professionals (TBA), along with your family and guests! This performance will be featured in each of the Singer’s individual video packages and we will have a group celebration afterwards.

* In an effort to maintain a non-competitive atmosphere, Singers will not be permitted to perform the same songs for their solo. Song selections will be chosen in the order Singers are registered and decided upon prior to the retreat’s start date.

Disney World Theme Parks

It wouldn’t be a retreat without a couple of “magic days” at Disney World’s Theme Parks! Each Singer, Guardian and Guest will receive a full-day pass to the theme park of their choice (descriptions below) on both November 7th and 10th, rain or shine. If you already hold season passes to the parks or prefer to take advantage of other activities in the Orlando area on these dates, you will have the option of subtracting $150 per person (Singer, Guardian and Guest) from your total Registration Fee.

Magic Kingdom has six themed areas that focus on the classic Disney experience: Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Epcot has two sections: Future World and World Showcase, which features Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco, the United States, France, England and Canada. Disney’s Hollywood Studios gives the opportunity to travel back in time to Hollywood’s heyday of the 1930s and ’40s, featuring rides such as Toy Story Mania ride and Tower of Terror. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to 250 species of animals and has seven sections: Africa, Asia, Discovery Island, Dinoland, Oasis, Camp Minnie-Mickey and Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

* Disney day passes are NOT park-hoppers. Meaning you will only be able to enter one park per day. Visit Disney’s official site for Park related rules, fast passes, policies, hours and other details.

Starke Lake Studios

After a magical day off from training, all of the Singers and their Guests will enjoy a luxurious limo-ride to spend their third activity day at one of Orlando’s most famous recording studios, Starke Lake! Here, we will do our morning warm-ups as a group in Studio A, a 2,000 sq. foot live recording room with incredible acoustics. After which, each Singer will do their individual slating and introduction on camera for their video package. In Studio B, Singers will continue to rehearse their solos and work with the mentors for the following day’s showcase. Lunch will also be provided at the studio and is already included in the Registration Fee.

On a side note, if you’re child is an aspiring artist or actor/actress, the short reel (video footage highlights) created from the retreat will provide fantastic material to add to their marketing strategies. Either way, it acts as a wonderful recorded memory of the experience to share with others.

*None of the professionally recorded audio/video footage featuring your child’s voice or likeness will be shared or made available to the public without your express permission. This is YOUR child’s experience and we respect your privacy.
